Update through Pictures

Here is a good variety of what we've been up to lately.... ENJOY!

We were able to go to the Rodeo last week.... Scotts favorite part is the petting zoo, but i loved the food!!! Yes that is right.. The best part was the fried snickers! They had a huge livestock show, amazing food, and then the rodeo. We had so much fun! This is a picture of Scott endulging in the amazingness of the fried snickers.

Scott installed crown molding throughout the ENTIRE house... ended up being a lot more work than we thought! But he did an awesome job, it really looks amazing. This is the entryway. He even painted the ceiling a charcoal grey. I love how it turned out.

I put up my St Pattys Day decor and am pretty proud. I made the shamrock on the door from wood scraps leftover. And the small green wreath I made from split peas (thank you pinterest). It turned out nice I think!! And cost me practically nothing!

Finally spring is here!! We got all new furniture for our patio and now we spend all of our time out there. Scott put up his old hammock from his mission and Jax just loves getting in it, but struggles a bit getting out. It is so funny watching him try to stand and jump out and he ends up falling on his face everytime. So now he gets in and then just stays in. Refusing to get out! The weather is getting warm really fast and before we know it summer will be here and so will the Houston heat! So we will enjoy the outdoors while we can! Lots of BBQing and bike rides.

Scott had a Birthday...SHOUT HORRAY!!

Scott is now 29 years old!! Holy cow kids!! We had a weekend of birthday cake, fried chicken and a lot of football. Yes it is just what he asked for. I bought him the infamous kindle fire, which he loved (go me!) Its not very often that I score big on his birthday so I am going to let everyone know it. Here is an awesome picture of my birthday boy!

What a Year it's Been

Yes I know I haven't posted in a while.. That is why I have decided to update the blog by doing a wrap-up of the year. 2011 just flew by and so far 2012 is going by even faster. Its sad to think another year has gone by an we are just getting older, but I we have had a good year and we did accomplish a lot.
JANUARY: We signed our lives away as we bought and moved into our first home!! This has kept us busy all year. It has been so fun making it our own.
FEBRUARY: My Mom and Jayme came to Houston!! We had so much fun shopping and eating and shopping some more!! I loved having them here and hope we can have a girls weekend again soon.
MARCH: We brought home a baby chocolate lab. Jax has been so much fun, I was very unsure about letting a dog in the house, but Jax really is such a good dog and he has made the year interesting. While he does have his moments, it is fun having someone follow me around the house while I do laundry and other things.
APRIL-JUNE: We pretty much spent the summer going to the beach, the pool, and lots of yard work. We planted lots of trees, started a garden and put in a back patio.
JULY: Scott's little brother, David, was married and we were able to fly home for a week. We were able to spend time in Cedar City and spend time with all of Scott's family. It was fun playing with the kids and of course several games of Risk.
AUGUST: i guess we just worked? Maybe a trip to the pool or something? It was flippen hot though so I don't know.
SEPTEMBER: We set sail in the Caribbean with Scott's sis Mary and her husband Russell. Seven days of sunbathing and eating and shopping!! I loved every minute of it! We stopped in Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel Mexico. We are already talking about our next cruise.
OCTOBER: UFC came to Houston!! Which means Jonny boy came to Houston!! Jon and his friend Kris stayed at our place a few days while the fight was in town. We enjoyed having them here!!
NOVEMBER: I cooked my first turkey and Scott and I had "Thanksgiving for two!" It was really good actually and I believe I heard Scott say it was the best turkey he'd ever had?! What??!! We really missed being home with our families but we made the best of it and thought we'd start some of our own family traditions. So he watched football and I cooked dinner... ;)
DECEMBER: Seems like a lot happened in December.... I was lucky enough to fly home for a week and surprise my mom for an early Christmas... it was awesome. She had no idea I was coming! We went shopping (of course), ate (of course) , visited all sorts of grandparents! (gma and gpa Hatch, gma Joan and gma Jackson), and then went shopping some more!! Scott and I had a "very merry Christmas for two". We had an awesome turkey dinner at the Berg's and spent the evening giggling over football! December also marks the one year mark since Scott and I started trying for a baby. Yes I said it, the cat is out of the bag, no more secrets. No success yet, but whenever I get frustrated or let down, Scott quickly reminds me that God will bless us with children when he is ready to and there is nothing we can to but pray and be obedient. It will happen soon lets hope but I am doing my best to prepare myself... maybe this has something to do with my new calling in primary?? I don't know...

Well that is 2011 in a blog post... I am sure I missed somethings but I think I got the important stuff down. I can't wait to see what 2012 brings our way but I am excited/nervous/anxious!!

Cruisin' 2011 !!

That's right... Scott and I went a cruise...AGAIN, Happy Birthday to me... AGAIN!I am really liking this new tradition we have started! This time we were able to go with Scott's little sister Mary and her husband Russ. We had such a good time. Our first stop was Montego Bay, Jamaica where we relaxed on the BeAuTiFuL beach and bartered with the locals in their shops. Our next stop was Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands (my favorite!!) we spent the afternoon swimming with stingrays! They were huge! and slimy! We fed them squid and they would just about maul us trying to get to it! Our last stop was Cozumel, Mexico. We loved Mexico!! We swam in an underground river, visited some old Mayan ruins, and again shopped!! Scott found the coolest little shops ran by Mayans selling handmade art, carvings, you name it! When we weren't exploring new land, we relaxed pool side on the ship with the occasional ping-pong or volleyball tournament, shows, oh and we ate ALL DAY! I think we got Mary and Russ hooked on cruised cause we are all going again sometime in the future!!

Labor Day at the Christensen's

We have been talking about painting the house since we moved in. I did like the cedar trim but I really like the way the dark turned out. Scott painted all this on his own while I was at work on Labor Day. Isn't he so amazing??!! I had no idea what he was up to until I came home to this!

My New Table

This time Scott built me a console table. It all happened on a weekend I was working. Scott needed something to do I guess 'cause I came home to this beautiful table. Made of solid wood, of course, so it is very heavy. But he let me finish it off, however I wanted. I am pretty proud of his abilites, obviously, so sorry if this isn't post worthy. It matches our coffee table he built- similar structure. I've wanted a farmhouse dining table, so we are looking over different plans right now. Maybe it'll be our next big project!!

This is just a little table we threw together, I am loving green right now!!
